OBJECTIVE: To provide technical support to the Director of Technical Services on a wide variety of projects related to group insurance in the employee benefits department Summer Intern would have great exposure to the group insurance business. This includes, but is not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance Learn to perform actuarial and underwriting analysis on group insurance ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Director of Technical Services SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Help create a employee benefits database to be used for client presentations Perform analysis on claims experience, including projections of costs under various plan design scenarios Help develop exhibits to be used for client presentations Ad-hoc studies and research related to projects in the employee benefits area QUALIFICATIONS: Seeking a college student pursuing a degree in mathematics, statistics, or related field Candidates that have successfully passed an actuarial exam with the Society of Actuaries would be a plus, but not required Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Above average skills in analyzing, problem solving and planning techniques are essential. Must be dependable and a good team player Must know Microsoft Excel. Database and programming skills would be a plus.
